How PTA can help

Use your voice to speak up for children

We all joined PTA to help make a difference for children and Legislative Advocacy is a way that PTA can make a big difference for children IF enough of us get involved. If WE don’t speak up for children then WHO will?

Use these resources each month

The following resources have been provided to help inform PTA members and so every local unit PTA can advocate for children, whether they have a Legislation Chair or not!

Resources for September 2007:

Resources for August 2007:

*If your PTA’s newsletter is distributed by "Kid Mail" (sent home with students, is mailed with the school’s newsletter etc) then it is essential to first obtain permission from the school’s principal before including this article in your PTA’s newsletter. More information is available in WSPTA’s Guidelines for Using “Kid Mail”.

Help Decide Which Issues Are Most Important

Each spring, local PTA units, councils, and members submit issues of statewide importance for children.   These issues are discussed, debated, and prioritized at Legislative Assembly.    Some of these issues become our Top 5 Issues for upcoming Legislative Session.   Some become Supported Issues.   Others are rejected.

Help us prioritize our Issues for the '07-08 legislative year.    Rank our 29 proposed priorities on the following scale:

  • A  -  Critical
  • B  -  Important
  • C  -  of Value
  • D  -  Unimportant
  • F  -  Should NOT be a PTA priority!

The following issue statements are abbreviated for survey purposes.   For complete issue information, click Proposed Issues.    lative Assembly delegates from your School, Council, and District will consider your survey opinion representing you at Assembly.    We ask for your school name and district, so we can direct your responses to your appropriate Representatives.

Thanks for your participation.
